Umberto Bombana, the chef of the first three Michelin-starred Italian restaurant outside of Italy, has been
appointed as the "International White Truffle Ambassador" by Piedmontese Regional Enoteca Cavour.
Bombana is very fond of truffles and specializes in it, earning the nickname “King of White Truffles”. Many
political and business celebrities purchase top priced truffles and then entrust them to Bombana because
he turns it into a magical truffle experience.
The restaurant’s name- 8 1⁄2 Otto e Mezzo- comes from an Italian film of the same name. The famous
director Federico Fellini directed the black and white film "Eight and a Half" in 1963. Inspired by his favorite
movie master, Bombana says the restaurant is a tribute- "eight In the middle of the half, I will sing myself
with food and art.
